Manos de Uruguay was founded in 1968 starting a process in the intern of the country for building up and strenghten groups of women that work and process sheeps' wool and handmade, sewed and croqueted clothes. After few years from the beginning, Manos de uruguay, together with 18 co-operatives from all over the country, they created a central organization that provides services based in Montevideo. At the moment, there are 17 co-operatives and the central organization.
